For Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10.
Usually, you can find your car-setup folder in:
rFactor\userdata\your name\settings
You'll see a folder for each track you have installed. Putting a setup (.svm files) into one of those folder and you will see the setup in game.
But sometimes, it happens that "rFactor\userdata\your name" folder does not exist or it is empty.
This must be a Windows secure option to change, and rFactor can't write on that folder, so it has to create a new one by his own.
C:\Users\your username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\rFactor\UserData\your name\Settings
Take care tha "AppData" is an hidden folder, so you probably have to enable the viewing of Hidden Folder (open a folder, whatever you want, click on Tools at the top of the page, then select Folder Options, then select the View tab. Under Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives, and then select OK.) Note: if you can't find TOOLS at the top of the folder, press "ALT" on your Keyboard.
Would you use the "normal" folder instead of that in AppData\Local etc...?
You can do it, but you have to lower the level on "UAC" Control, following these procedure.
Press Start, than writing (without making any other things) UAC and then press Enter.
In the following screen, lower the level at minimum, then press OK and Yes at the following confirm message.
You now have to restart the computer, and from the next time you'll start rFactor, it would use the "normal" Settings folder

Solitamente la cartella di default dove vengono salvati i setup di rFactor é:
rFactor\userdata\nome utente\settings
Se non doveste trovare la cartella del vostro nome utente, probabilmente c'é qualche configurazione di sicurezza del sistema Windows che impedisce al gioco di ''scrivere'' in quella cartella.
In questo caso viene creata un'altra cartella.
Per trovarla, attiviamo la visualizzazione dei file nascosti.
Aprite una cartella qualsiasi, poi premete ALT sulla tastiera, nel menù in alto che apparirá cliccate su Strumenti e poi su Opzioni Cartella.
Nella seconda pagina, attivate la visualizzazione dei file e delle cartelle nascoste.
A questo punto andate in C:\Users\tuo username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\rFactor\UserData\nome utente nel gioco\Settings
Se invece volete utilizzare la cartella normale, dovete disabilitare l'UAC (Controllo Account utente).
Per farlo, cliccate su Start, e scrivete direttamente senza fare altre operazioni la parola UAC e date invio.
Si aprirá una schermata, nella quale dovete abbassare il livello fino a quello piú basso, poi date OK, e SI alla richiesta di conferma.
Riavviate il computer (necessario), e quando tornerete su rFactor, vi creerá in automatico la nuova cartella del profilo in rFactor\UserData\tuo nome.
